2 a.m., 10 degrees. Two paramedics have a quiet night. Motorcycle fan Wassim Razzouk was with his girlfriend in a Ramallah bar. Now the couple is making their way back to Jerusalem. Midwife Yana Glazer prepares for the first birth of the night. Families have lived in the Palestinian Shuafat camp for 3 generations, and a 4th generation is gradually being born. The camp is part of Jerusalem, but is outside the wall. The alleys are narrow. The houses were once built as one-story temporary structures, then added on and on. They are poorly insulated against sound. Anyone who makes noise here at night wakes many neighbors from their sleep. Returning from a wedding, Khaled Esheikh, a participant in the 1st Intifada, tells us what is bothering him. Also in the Shuafat camp, rapper Muhammad Mughrabi begins a session with two friends in the studio on the grounds of a youth center. A nun of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church begins her prayer that will last until after sunrise.
