This portrait of two women, Waltraud Kosetzka and Inge Arnold, combines their story as rubble women helping to rebuild the city after World War II with their lives in Leipzig in the early 1980s. They can be seen walking along the squares and streets where they both helped to clear debris and rebuild Leipzig after the end of the war, admiring their beautiful city - at the Opera House, the Old Town Hall and Sachsenplatz. To emphasize the importance of their work, old footage of destroyed buildings is cut in contrast against new structures. An exciting piece of everyday and contemporary history.
